Commemorating Memorial Day With Young Children

While for most of us, Memorial Day marks the long-awaited beginning of warm weather, BBQ's, pool parties, trips to beach and the likes...it is also, and most importantly, a time to remember and honor the military heroes who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our protection and freedoms.

Unlike Veterans Day that honors living service men and women, Memorial Day is a time set aside to remember and honor those who died in service. No doubt, it can be a tricky topic to navigate with little ones.

Nonetheless, we encourage you to keep things simple with your little ones. Help them focus on the military servicemen & women in their life, their family, or community; remain open for questions from them; and most importantly teach them about gratitude and ways to express it.

Here are some great tips from Zero To Three Organization on how to navigate the Memorial Day conversation with little ones and instill an attitude of gratitude. https://www.zerotothree.org/resources/4057-celebrating-memorial-day-with-toddlers-and-preschoolers

Additionally, we found some really nice nature craft ideas for the whole family that we'd love to share. Working with our hands from the heart can be a great way to express our gratitude and appreciation.

We hope you enjoy these!

We hope you enjoy this special time of remembrance and gratitude for our service members with your littles ones.

And we'd love to hear from you... what's your favorite way to commerorate this special time with young children?
